Journal Entry 1 by mummafour from Adelaide, South Australia Australia on Tuesday, August 07, 2007
Insurmountable debts, a marriage on the verge of meltdown, children going without the bare essentials, and no family to turn to for help. In the circumstances, Dawn Annandale answered the job advertisement that would change her life. Call me Elizabeth is the true story of how a bright, witty and highly educated woman became a well-paid and successful escort. It is a frank and illuminating insight into the British sex industry-an occupation that has very much left the sex shops for the suburbs. By turns sad, funny, frightening and empowering, call me Elizabeth is above all honest and compelling. From Emmanuelle to Pretty Woman, the life of an escort remains deeply fascinating. and though there may be some who will judge the author, many more will understand her situation. This is her story- decide for yourself. Ok she loved her children wanted to give them the best but what will her children think of her when they find out what mum did to get them all the things they have. This is a good story and once you start you cant put it down but I really believe there could of been another way out of her mess without having to sell her body!

Journal Entry 4 by michyj from Perth, Western Australia Australia on Saturday, April 19, 2008

I found this book to be really interesting and I didn't find myself passing judgement on her. I was more curious of the life of an escort who wasn't your typical blonde bimbo. I wanted to know what happened after the book, will she tell her kids, how did she managed to pay the bills after escorting, what about David? Journal Entry 7 by kidwrangler from Gold Coast, Queensland Australia on Thursday, April 24, 2008
This really was a hard to put down read! I found her descriptions of the work quite interesting/ confronting, and her background was a good way of maybe understanding how she could just switch off to the reality of each night. I did find myself judging her choices though. Justifying prostituting yourself behind your husband's back so your children can remain in their private school was too much for me to accept as reasonable personally. Maybe if she was a single mum in a country without social welfare... Gee it would be interesting to know if David really did return to stay, and to hear his perspective. I also felt quite sad for her husband Paul - she really seemed responsible for pushing him into a lifestyle they couldn't maintain, and then judging him for not earning enough. I thought putting the blame for her choices onto him was unfair, as was cheating with another man and her new profession (that also endangered him regardless of regular STD checks). Theirs really must have been a distant relationship... I kept wondering how she washed and dried all that lingerie etc without anyone else noticing? Thanks Mummafour for sharing and Michyj for organising the ray :) I'll contact the next on the list and send on asap.

this was a quick read. thanks for including me. im not going to say much as i dont want to offend. i felt sorry for her as a child, but i also feel there are a ot more choices out there than having to turn to do that. alot of stuff she brought on herself, ie, having to have the big house, the big family. if she wasnt so materalistic she wouldnt have to struggle. anyways its already on its way to scrapaholic.

I found her story interesting and hard to put down. I tried not to judge her as I read her story, rather I found that I was more curious about her profession and her life and how it would all turn out. Certainly not a choice I would have made but I guess she thought it was right for her and her family. Thanks for sharing this book. Will send it onto sarahbear when I get her details.

WOW. What a read! I have read a few similar books and I enjoyed this one more because it didn't concentrate on the actual sexual acts but more the motivation behind Dawns decision. I wouldn't dare judge her but at times I couldn't help but think if she had only just taken the kids out of private education she might have been able to break the debt cycle without resorting to selling herself. But each to their own. She was one of the lucky ones. Contacting trystja for an address.
