Neither her training as a warrior or as a sorceress-druid prepares young Aeron Aoibhell for her tragic rise to the throne of Keltia or the price she must pay for her first actions as high queen of a spacefaring, magic-using kingdom. Steeped in Celtic myth, this prequel to The Copper Crown and The Throne of Scone depicts the coming to maturity of a woman destined to bring her people into a larger world... Well, this copy says "First book in the Keltiad" so I guess it could be read first, it would in fact make more sense to do that. I read "The Copper Crown" first but found my way through that okay, so this should be fine...

This was a really great prequel - I read the series out of order, this one (either book 1 or 3 depending on your edition) second, after "The Copper Crown" and before "The Throne of Scone". The emphasis here was different to that of "The Copper Crown" - where that was a lot to do with the Earth travellers and their perception of Keltia (and of course the treasonous plot of the storyline) this one was very much history-building and culture-building, it really filled in the blanks and coloured in the world nicely. Kennealy-Morrison really is very talented! Sending to Gypsyrose, filling a wishlist request...
