Journal Entry 1 by Sidney1220 from McLean, Virginia USA on Tuesday, July 17, 2007
Received from pbs. 9/12/07 Reserved for penelopewanders. ___________________________________________________________ Book Description Wealthy Lady Georgina Maitland doesn't want a husband, though she could use a good steward to run her estates. One look at Harry Pye, and Georgina knows she's not just dealing with a servant, but a man. Harry has known many aristocrats-including one particular nobleman who is his sworn enemy. But Harry has never met a beautiful lady so independent, uninhibited, and eager to be in his arms. Still, it's impossible to conduct a discreet liaison when poisoned sheep, murdered villagers, and an enraged magistrate have the county in an uproar.

Journal Entry 2 by Sidney1220 from McLean, Virginia USA on Tuesday, November 06, 2007
Despite some of the rave reviews I've read of this book, I think it's quite the most ridiculous romance I've read in a while. First of all, the author's writing style is very abrupt, with barely enough narrative or descriptions to string together the dialogue. As a result the characters never came alive for me and I found the whole story very emotionless. There's no sexual tension. One minute the hero and the heroine were talking, the next minute he's aroused. The sex scenes are also very clinical. Second of all, the whole fairy tale of the Leopard Prince had nothing to do with the story at all. And the way the story was told only further highlighted the author's inability to write compelling narrative. And the thing that bothered me the most? It's how everyone insists on flaunting the hero and the heroine's affair. The heroine talks about it, the hero talks about it, the heroine's family talks about it. This is a historical for God's sake. It's like everyone in the book is afraid that anyone within a 20 mile radius has not heard that Lady Georgina is sleeping with her land steward. I'm usually not a stickler for historical accuracy. But this is just lazy writing. ________________________________________ 1/14/08 I didn't realize it has been this long! Was finally able to go to the post office today. So sorry for the delay!

Journal Entry 3 by penelopewanders from Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Thanks so much! This arrived safely here today... I still have the first in this series saved up for a treat, and now I know I can just move right on to the next if I like it as much as many people seem to have... I have a long train journey coming up next month - maybe this will go with me (I already have a really long ring I've promised myself to read then, but I have to have something for when I finish that, right?) Thank you so much for the trade...

Journal Entry 4 by penelopewanders from Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Friday, May 15, 2009
Ended up reading this as a bit of a sandwich - I was reading another book which I'd almost finished, so didn't want to take it on the train journey I was going on, then I almost finished this and the next day was travelling again so started another. My second book by Hoyt, and I've enjoyed them both, but again there are things which I find so hard to swallow... The boldness of George seems fairly improbable, as is the way the class issue, though discussed, really isn't such a big deal. Yes, I know, they go back and forth because of it, (literally) but I guess I would think it just would seem far more insurmountable than it does in the book. Still a good read, and I look forward to the next, although they really don't seem to be connected at all. (ok, it was a while since I'd read the first, but still, both seem standalone). I do agree, they are anything but discreet, and that is sooo not likely...

I picked this one up from the Historical Romance bookbox. I enjoyed this one, I've read far worse in terms of historical accuracy, at least Georgiana has doubts about it all, and well, when you hear of some of the scandals amongst the English aristocracy, not all of the women can have been proper. I enjoyed Violet and Georgina, particularly Georgina's interesting take on life. I'm going to return this to the Historical Romance bookbox.

Journal Entry 8 by Myrzen at Selinia, Attica Greece on Saturday, July 16, 2011
I know I am hopeless when it comes to geting on with my to read list. This book remained in my self for far to long. Finally I managed to find some time during my summer holidays to read it. It is a nice and easy read . Especially if you want something to relax your mind from the day to day real life issues. So now its time for the book to continue its journey. I will leave it in the Book zone in Volos where I spend my remaining holidays.
