This came along in the post all the way from Romania with Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Thanks so much!! I visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam a few years ago and LOVED it. My favorite painting was the Nightwatch.
I'll pass this book along with the other when I'm done reading.

Arrived yesterday, travelling with Girl With a Pearl Earring bookray. Thanks for forwarding it too solskinn. I'll enjoy looking at the photoplates of the paintings.

We're so lucky here (near Canberra, Australia) that we have a wonderful French Masters exhibition at the National Gallery at the moment. It features paintings of Van Gogh, Gaughin and others I've forgotten right now, from the Musee D'Orsay. I'm looking forward to going to see them next week.

It was wonderful to look at the paintings of Vermeer, Rembrandt and the others in this book alongside reading Girl With A Pearl Earring. I recognised a couple of the Vermeer paintings described in the book and googled the rest.
Thanks so much.

This book came to me (unexpectedly) with Girl With A Pearl Earring. I found it useful to refer to whilst reading that book - even though it didn't contain the exact paintings refered to in the GWaPE, it gave me a good idea what the author was describing. This book has also made me want to go and see the original painitings shown inside. I think I would get a better feel for them to see the actual thing. Hope all this makes sense. Oh - when I recieved this book, it fell apart on me :(, so I took it and got it rebound with a spiral thingy. It has not ruined the ability to read it & no pages have been lost. Infact, it will keep it able to continue it's jounrney around the world!

What a beautiful little book. Years ago when I was an art student, I loved these paintings so it is a real joy to read about them again. What a wonderful thing to rebound it with those spiral thingies, Shahrun!! I will pass this book on with The Girl With the Pearl Earring to the next reader. Oh my!! So many books on my TBR pile...I may have to quit one of my jobs just to catch up!!

*Waves to all the previous readers from Canada!!*
