BOOK DESCRIPTION:

"Pi Patel, a God-loving boy and the son of a zookeeper, has a fervent love of stories and practices not only his native Hinsuism, but also Christianity and Islam. When Pi is 16, his family and their zoo animals emigrate from India to North America aboard a Japanaese cargo ship. Alas, the ship sinks, and Pi finds himself in a lifeboat, his only companions a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi. Can Pi and the tiger find their way to land? Can Pi's fear, knowledge and cunning keep him alive until they do?" (Description from back of book.)

Purchased at my local library for 50 cents for BC purposes. I don't think I ever want to read this!

Woops, never wrote a journal entry when I finished the book like I promised I would. Well, I really enjoyed it. It was hard to put down. The story is absolutely fascinating. I'd write more, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone!

My good Luck. This is a book of firsts for me. It is the first book I've caught on bookcrossing. I'm really lucky to be the first on the list of my first ever book ray. Thank you to VividReader for sharing this book with us.

This book is not the genre I usually read. I nearly gave up on it at about page 80. It seemed very biographical; then suddenly in a few page turns it became an intriguing adventure story. I was more interested in the story once poor PI was lost at sea. The ending certainly was unusual, and still keeps me thinking (wondering).

I've finished the Life of PI. I will mail it to pulpmode, next on the bookray list.

This was a fantastic story! I truly enjoyed this read! (thank you for including me on the ray/ring) The author really made me feel like I knew Pi and I found myself emotionally with him on the journey. I love cats too, so Richard Parker was a fun character, in my opinion. I did get a bit confused by the italicized digressions of future happenings, but on the whole, I would recommend this book to everyone. It says a lot about life, challenges and surviving and it is a message everyone can appreciate!

Now, on to the next Bookcrosser it goes!

This is a book I won't soon forget. I do agree with previous journalers that Part One was slow going but I felt it was important in our understanding of Pi. The story really picks up in Part Two. Some parts were a little gruesome and hard to read. The ending was unexpected for me. It left me thinking. I could say more but don't want to spoil it for future readers.

Thank you VividReader for sharing. I'm waiting for the next participant's address so I can send this book on its way.
