The adventures of Victor Ward, model/actor/whatever. Starts off as an acutely observed satire on vacuous celebrity then turns into a dark and disturbing thriller. I will read something light and fluffy next to erase some of the images this book left on my brain.

Received today thanks. Added to my mountainous TBR :)

Well, this was strange to say the least. Right from page 1 I was confused :) Some of the descriptions were a bit too much for me and I'll be glad to read something else now, probably something a bit more linear and less disturbing (lol - I know, I'm such a wimp!).

Anyway, I'm glad I read it as its another one off the 1001 list. Sorry it took so long but I will get it moving again this week.

Arrived - thanks very much.

Journal Entry 7 by arturogrande from Coalville, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Friday, May 16, 2008
Try as I might, I just couldn't get into this.

It's not like me to give up on a book, but as there are a lot of people waiting for it who might get more out of it than me, I think I'll rise the white flag and move it on.

Thanks for sharing, anyway.

Thank you shnedwards and arturogrande. This is not my usual fare, which is good BookCrossing. My son has recommended this author in the past and this is an opportune moment.

That was a long hard slog and I am seriously in need of therapy now! I am sure that this is a very clever expose of celebrity and our perceptions of truth but I felt a lot of pain. Victor may well be the most hateful narrator in history (debating point) but I was surprisingly upset by his confusion at the end. I am off to read something easy. Going to Midlifecrisis today.

Spoiler, I think!

Why was it always cold? And what is it with the confetti?

Journal Entry 10 by Midlifecrisis from St. Austell, Cornwall United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 8, 2008
Thanks Eileen, this one arrived yesterday but I only got it today because the postman could not get it through the door. I confess to some trepidation at embarking on this one, which sounds challenging to say the least. Time will tell....

I am so sorry, I hate passing over on a book without even trying it, but this is what has happened with Glamorama. Not only did the reviews of previous readers deter me from rushing to pick it up, but I am working my way through a pile of more accessible TBRs which are giving me such pleasure I couldn't bear to break the flow to try something I "ought" to read. So it seemed the best thing was to get this moving to the next person, which will happen later today. Thanks anyway - can't win them all...

Journal Entry 12 by Fiellu from Joensuu, Pohjois-Karjala / Norra Karelen Finland on Monday, August 11, 2008
Got this book today. It had been lying in the post office a few days as wasn't able to get it before. Have no other book going at the moment so I can start with this brick straight away. This is my first book from Easton Ellis so hopefully it will be an enjoyable experience.

I have to admit that this book was a struggle for me. The beginning seemed very interesting but the overall storyline was a bit too hazy for me. I just couldn't keep up with it or make sense what was going on. For about ten times I considered leaving this book unfinished, but as always I keep on thinking that the end of the book will change my opinion. I think that the ending was a good one and it left me wondering weather Victors father had actually planned everything. Yet the overall messiness and the sex scenes that felt 'planted' - not really needed for the story - I did not really like this book. I don't think that I will return to Easton Ellis anytime soon...

Have the next persons address already so the book will head for Poland in a few days time.

It's here,thank you!

Journal Entry 15 by kiyoitsukikage from Brixton, Greater London United Kingdom on Wednesday, November 12, 2008
The book was difficult to get through because of thick, intense language (which I liked nonetheless). The plot was quite confusing ;) At any rate I liked the book a lot! Thanks for sharing.

This came in the mail today...perfect timing as I have just finished a book a few minutes ago! I will start this tonight!

UPDATE: I think I have read this before, yikes! I am going to read for a little more and if it all starts coming back to me I am going to send it on. It has been so long since I "might" have read it that things rae fuzzy.....certain scenes are seeming pretty familiar to me though.
