WOW! Twins born, one healthy, one with downs syndrome. The father, who delivers the children, informs their wife that their daughter is dead and thus the twins are destined to live separate lives not knowing of each others existence.

A powerful novel of 'regret & redemption' of loss, betrayal, grief. secret & lies.

Taking to the uncon to find a new home.

This book jumped off of the Table of Temptation and into my rucksuck before I could stop it!

This was an interesting book to read. It certainly reveals attitudes to Downs Syndrome have changed over the years. In particular the moment when the nurse asks whether Phoebe should be allowed to die from her allergic reaction to a bee sting.

The book covers almost 25 years within its pages and this made some events feel rushed. The death of one of the characters (David) was a bit sudden but perhaps it was might to convey that. His death also allows his secret to be revealed to his ex-wife and son which was slightly disappointing. I would have liked to have seen a confrontation between Norah and David.

If you enjoy Jodi Picoult books then you'll probably enjoy this one.

Drusilla was telling me about this book at the Uncon and I thought it sounded good then so I was glad to see it on the table tonight.

I really enjoyed this book, although between picking it up and getting round to reading I managed to get it completely mixed up in my head with The Time Traveller's Wife. Anyways...

Had been wanting to read this book for some while, so was very happy to find it in the Free Books shelf at Kirjakahvila (book café) in Turku. A true page-turner of a book, could hardly put it down.

Book swap shelf!
