A Clockwork Orange (Restored Text)

I made sure I read the introduction before reading this book and I learnt all sorts about the American edition and conflicts with Kubrick over the film. The language Burgess created is a mixture of Russian, cockney slang and various other things combined together. This short book is divided into 3 sections each with 7 chapters to tell this tale about violence and depravity and being youthful . I was surprised I didn’t find it quite as shocking as I expected but I believe the language used seem to tone it down somewhat and if you can keep going to the end there does appear to be a moral to the story that was skipped by the film! An interesting read!

Loved this book when I read it in middle school, so when I found it in the rainbow bookbox, thought it must be serendipity.
