Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out... Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn't such a bright idea!

This book was great fun - reminiscent of early Anita Blake (before Laurel K Hamilton got a bit carried away) but with its own fun flavour. Sookie is a great heroine, sweetly feminine and a bit naive but ballsy as hell, and her unique 'disability', as she calls her psychic power, puts an interesting extra element into the mix. Bill the vampire is a breath of fresh air, far less cliche than most of the other vampiric love interests in similar books. Looking forward to many more of Bill and Sookie's adventures!

Going to Freelunch as part of a bookbag.

This was a fun read and quite different to the paranormal books I'm most familiar with (Julie Kenner's Kate Connor, Demon Hunter adventures)

I haven't yet seen True Blood but I'm looking forward to it even more now, and to continuing with this series in the near future...
