Green Angel
16 journalers for this copy...
Haunted by grief and by her past after losing her family in a fire, fifteen-year-old Green retreats into her ruined garden as she struggles to survive emotionally and physically on her own. It is only through a series of mysterious encounters that Green can relearn the lessons of love and begin to heal enough to tell her story.
I love Alice Hoffman's books, the environment & the atmosphere are always one with the characters, Green probably more so than others. This charming short novel is a favourite of mine, I hope others will enjoy it as well.

On its way to Lauraloo29
Arrived today. I have a few rings before it, but they are on the short side as well. No worries. I will keep it moving.
An interesting read. For some reason it took me longer than I thought to read it. I needed to think about it more.
It will be on its way to the UK next week. Thank you for sharing!
The book has just arrived here, thanks for sending it on to me lauraloo29. And thanks to Rossella05 for letting me join the bookring. I'm a huge fan of Alice Hoffman's novels so can't wait to read this one. I hope it's as good as other books of hers that I've read - I'm sure it will be. I should get to this soon and will journal it again once I've read it.
I read the book in one sitting this afternoon. I picked the book up to have a look at it and ended up reading it! It was another fantastic read by Alice Hoffman. I find her books so engrossing and while they're always ethereal they're always very real too. I loved Green in this novel and her connections with nature; this was a sad book but ultimately a story of survival and renewal.
I've PM'd the next person on the list and am awaiting their address.
I posted the book on to midlifecrisis today by 2nd class post so it should get there by early next week.
Arrived today - thank you. I have a couple of rings/rays already in my possession, but will try to keep this one moving as soon as I can.
I agree - a magical account of loss, grief and survival. I love this author's mystical touch in all the books I have read. I am checking the next address and will journal as soon as Green is on her way. Thank you for including me in this ring.
Posted to HeavenAli today.
Arrived safely today - thanks very much for sending it on. I will read it soon, one ring book in front of it : )
I read this in one sitting last night curled up in bed with a mug of tea. A really charming short novel, with plenty of Alice Hoffman's characteristic mystical touches. This is a fairy story in a way, a tale of survival and healing. The story is often rather poignant, but the overall message is one of hope.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES: I enjoyed the story of Green's journey through the grief of sudden loss, her struggle to survive, and the healing process. This is a young adult novel which is well written for a teenager and I highly recommend it. Will be sending to Easterngirl71 tomorrow. Enjoy. =)
I will get to this book as quickly as possible. I just got home from a short visit in CT. This book was here to greet me! Thanks for sharing! Sent to Bug2004! I didn't like this book as well as some of you. I understand the book... loss, grief, healing...I just was not as impressed with this book as others written by Alice Hoffman.

Sending to the next person in line! Bug2004! Enjoy!!
Rec'vd today...thanks for sharing!!
Oh, how I wish this book were longer. It packs more of punch, being a shorter story, but I would love to follow Green around for awhile. It was just beautifully done....sad yet hopeful, real life yet fantasy, dark yet so full of light. Well done!!
Thanks so much for sharing, Rossella05! Off to Chambejd tomorrow.
This book arrived this past Thursday and I finished it up today. It was a very nice short story. It started off a bit slow but I really enjoyed the story once it got going.
ETA: The book was mailed via first class on 2/17.
This arrived on Friday; I read it over the weekend, and I'm going to PM soft-landing *right now*, and get her addy to send it along...
Thsi was a rather sad little tale - at least, more so than I'm used to with Hoffman; but I am drawn to her writing because I luv her prose, and it was just as wonderful in this short story as it is in her longer tales. Thanks so much for sharing it, Rossella, and I will be sending it along shortly.
*mailed to Soft-Landing, 2/26
Received the book March 2, 2009. Requested address from valentina1209 for mailing upon completion.
Will mail Green Angel to valentina1209 this week. I apologise for the delay - returned home from traveling last night. Although small, this book takes us through a dreamlike journey. I look forward to reading more of Alice Hoffman's work
Received today! I will be traveling over the Easter Break, so I can't read it right away. I promsie to get to it as soon as I return home and will get it moving along by the end of the month.
Thanks for including me in this ring.

Alice Hoffman has such a poetic and lyrical style of writing, which makes this tragically beautiful story such a pleasure to read. I enjoyed accompaniying Green/Ash on her journey of grief and healing, and as another poster mentioned, I am haunted by the feeling of wanting to know more about what happened to her long after I read the final page.
PM'd starrdust for her address

sending to the next bookring participant
Picked this little book up at the Post Office today - - I'm really looking forward to reading it. This will be the first Alice Hoffman that I've read. Thanks for including me in this bookring, Rossella05.
The first book by Alice Hoffman that I have read, thanks to this BookRing, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to delve into the world of Green/Ash through Hoffman's words. As others have stated before me it is a tale of loss, an aching of the heart & soul, and yet ultimately a tale of love, survival, hope and re-birth. I feel fortunate that this little book has crossed paths with me in life, and I'll look for other Hoffman books to read. Thanks for including me in this BookRing, Rossella05.
I have sent a pm to Andthings who is next on the list but so far no word back...

As I did not hear back from Andthings after several attempts to contact for a mailing address, I checked in with our BookRing Host and then connected with the next person on the list - Martinburo.
This little gem of a book was dropped off at the Post Office this morning and is now on its way across the Atlantic heading towards the home of Martinburo.
Happy reading!
The book arrived today! I've just come back from a traumatic experience at the dentists so it cheered me up to see this package.
What a magical book... sad but full of hope. An awful lot of it resonated with me. I was completely drawn in to it from page 1. I think I'll look out for other books by this author.
Thank you Rossella05, for sharing this with us!

With me now and pleased to see how small a book it was. It seems all the bookrings I have joined want to arrive at the same time. Will get to it ASAP.
17/9/09 ~ What a strange little book. As others have said a bit of a mystical/fairy story theme running through it and I can see why. Lovely written as always by Alice Hoffman. Thanks for allowing me to read it. Not often I read a book in a couple of days! No excuse really with this very short book.
Just waiting for nickel27 addy.
Of in the mail today to nikel27 in Germany. Hoping it doesn't take too long to get there!
arrived safe at my house, will start reading today.
update:
Good read, the ending I thought was not so good to many answers what really happened.
Will sent home as soon I have the address.
