Love to read it in the morning
love to say it:

Thank you so much, cordelia-anne, for sending me this sweet-looking little book as a RABCK! I've always thought YA novels written in verse are a fascinating genre, and I'm really looking forward to reading this one! You've made my day!

8 out of 10

An absolutely delightful little story in verse! It's about the nature of poetry: what it is really, just words typed neatly on paper, in short lines? And how come it binds people together, makes them gain new friends, and consoles them in their sorrow? Mysterious stuff, poetry.

I've always liked the wheelbarrow poem - I'm glad it featured here! And in case someone's interested, here's Walter Dean Myers' web page.

I'm so happy I've had the chance to read Love That Dog, and now I'm looking forward to passing it on to other readers! I already know a couple of good releasing destinations in mind.

Thanks again, cordelia-anne, for sharing this book!

Thank you, Niksu! This seems like a fun book to read, even though I'm more of a cat person myself. I think I will read this quickly. :)

On this boring Sunday night
I read this book
which wasn't about dogs
after all.

But about writing poetry!

Nice.

I feel for this guy.
His texts remind me of
all those writing classes
and their feedback sessions
I have attended.

Now the book
is looking for
a new reader.

Mr P couldn't resist this book either. He read it this morning and I read it after lunch. I was so glad that the book included some of the poems in question - I was familiar with some but not all.

I would like to go back and read some of Kathleen Norris's comments about visiting schools as a poet, and teaching there. One thing I remember is that she felt strongly that poetry reaches some of the kids who are not reached by the ordinary curriculum, that it can be startling to both kids and teachers that some of the "problem" students may find that poetry really gives them a voice, while some of the "best" students don't seem to cope with the unstructured nature of some of Norris's poetic assignments.

Thanks everyone for passing this book along. (I was startled enough yesterday to see harmaja in Scotland, and now today she's in Japan!!)

I LOVED it so much. :D It was a very nice, pleasant read. Would it be so simple? To put the words together and get a poem?? :)

I read it aloud
to myself
enjoy the time
very well.
