I just love the title of this book!!

From Amazon:
In fin-de-siecle Copenhagen, part-time prostitute Charlotte and her lumpen sidekick, Fru Schleswig, have taken on jobs as cleaning ladies of dubious talent to tide them over the harsh winter of 1897. But the home of their neurotic new employer, the widow Krak, soon reveals itself to be riddled with dark secrets - including the existence of a demonic machine rumoured to swallow people alive. Rudely catapulted into twenty-first-century London, the hapless duo discover a whole new world of glass, labour-saving devices and hectic, impossible romance.

Once I got used to the way this book was written, I found it highly amusing. The thought of a prostitute in the year 1897 going forward in time and having an ambition of opening a bordello back in 1897 with the 'aid' of purchases from the Ann Summers catalogue, it's just delightful.

There is more to this book than that, but I'll let you find that out when you read it for yourself.

Hi guys,
I received the book yesterday. This is my very first ever bookring (so that's kind of exciting!!). It is a lovely copy & I cannot wait to read it. I just have to finish The Dancer Upstairs by Nicholas Shakespeare & I'll pick it up next. Hopefully, I'll have it on its way again in a few days....

Great book, really enjoyed it. It was fast paced and exciting, quirky and unusual. I'll send it on tomorrow. Thanks for the opportunity.

Having gone back and re-read all of the JE's, I'm so pleased to see that you've all enjoyed it.
