I love an audio book read by the author - esp. someone as personable as Fannie Flagg.

But I think I'd prefer to read this one - so I'm enjoying a bit of it to get the author's voice in my mind - then sending on to KateKintail - part of a wishlist RABCK.

I was sad to get to the end and find this was abridged (I really must pay more attention to CD cases, LOL) but I didn't mind. I thought it was a good length, apart from the fact that the beginning section was very long and the subsequent decades covered in the story seemed too short.

This isn't the sort of book I usually seek out to read, but it's the sort I enjoy and am always glad I've read when I finish with them :-) The characters were good, the story was simple but *felt* real, and I loved hearing it told by the author herself. By the end, I really cared about the characters, and it all turned out the way I wanted, which was more than I could have hoped for. Lovely book!

I'll set this as available for now. If it doesn't end up in a book relay or leaving me as a RABCK, I'll probably add it to an audio bookbox coming my way soon.
