I am registering this book as a not-quite-random act of bookcrossing kindness, to enable a twice-stalled bookring to continue.

The entry for the original book is here,
and the first replacement is here.

The bookring now continues with:

Pennydainty, and
Bonnethillbunny
and then goes back to Inver.

I couldn't resist reading it before passing it along!

I loved the character of Kat - she reminded me a lot of Scout Finch in Mockingbird.

My other comments contain slight spoilers so I'll use white font (select to read): Reading the first chapter I had the very strong feeling that this had to be too good to be true. But what does that say about our expectations of love? Or was the implication at the end of the novel that for all the time that Jorie was able to be completely dedicated to Ethan it was her devotion that sort of kept him on the straight and narrow?

Less disturbing is the really lovely story of Barney, who (on the one hand) turns out *not* to be too good to be true, and yet (on the other hand) comes with a failed marriage behind him - I guess a nice illustration of the complexity of a truly good relationship, that we come to each other with our strengths and our weaknesses, as complex people, not just the facile "perfection" of Josie's and Ethan's relationship that we were presented with in the first chapter. Ethan comes to Josie with "no" past, and that turns out to be horrifyingly untrue, whereas Charlotte is almost painfully aware of Barney's past - and that's part of what makes their relationship work.

Thanks so much, Inver and musicgirl4, for introducing me to Blue Diary. Now I'll pass this along to Pennydainty.

Book arrived safely today from Finland. I am so pleased and surprised to receive it as this wee book has been re started twice I think by kind bookcrossers, after it stalled. Never fear Inver it is nearly home. I have a few more rings to read at the mo but will get to this as soon as I can.

7 out of 10

I am very pleased to have been able to read this title, all through the kindness of our fellow bookcrossers - you are realy great. I enjoyed this story, it just makes you think how in one moment your life can be changed forever. It also makes you think do you truley know another person and how one event touches so many lives years after the event. There was one flaw that made it a ring a bit untrue for me - but I won't spoil it for others. I would have liked a bit more of the diary too. My favourite character was Kat, she was wise beyond her years.
