It's taken me ages to read this but I've finally finished! I found some parts very entertaining especially some of the characters but I struggled with it too. I actually feel like patting myself on my back that I kept reading it as despite it being all rather surreal at times I did get something from it. It didn't blow me away and I'm not 100% sure how it got onto the 1001 books to read before you die list but looking at the varied ratings it has received from my friends I would say this is a book that you either get or you don't!

Picked this up at the White Swan meetup yesterday. I have been told it is a "must read" book. Might take a while to get round to it though.
