This is Mary Higgins Clark's first novel and it definitely reads that way. Intended to "reveal the flesh-and-blood man who became the 'father of our country' in a story that is charming, insightful, and immensely entertaining," it was too short to gain any true insight into what went on in George Washington's head.
I didn't care for the way the story went back and forth between his youth and the weeks after he left the office of the Presidency. With the in-depth, and very popular, treatments that Benjamin Franklin and John Adams have received in recent years, I think I would have been more satisfied with a similar treatment of George and Martha Washington.

RELEASE NOTES:
Left on a coffee table in the outdoor furniture section.
Congratulations--you caught a book!
It may have seemed odd to find this lying around, but be assured it's not lost and it's not forgotten. Feel free to read it, pass it on to a friend, or release it in the wild like I did. You can even keep it, if you like, but are books really happy when they're just sitting on a shelf? I'd have to say no.
