What People Are Saying
"'For One More Day' is a quick, slick read, full of literary jewels and
lines that go down like a sip of water. The mythical, magical world that lives behind Mitch Albom's eyes, where you can go back and fix what was wrong, where it doesn't hurt to dole out forgiveness, where a mother walks the earth like an angel paying homage to our one true treasure -- our families -- is a place I wish I lived. If you had the chance, just one chance, to go back and fix what you did wrong in life, would you take it? And if you did, would you be big enough to stand it? Mitch Albom, in this new book, once again demonstrates why he is one of my favorite writers: a fearless explorer of the wishful and magical, he is also a devout believer in the power of love. For One More Day will make you smile. It will make you wistful. It will make you blink back tears of nostalgia. But most of all, it will make you believe in the eternal power of a mother's love."
--James McBride, author of The Color of Water
Praise for Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven:
"Transcendent. . . . Albom has aimed high here, and there's a whiff of paradise as a result."
--The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
"Simply told, sentimental, and profoundly true, this is a contemporary American fable that will be cherished by a vast readership."
--Publishers Weekly (starred review)
"A book with the genuine power to stir and comfort its readers."
--The New York Times
"Albom has the ability to make yourself cry in spite of yourself."
--The Boston Globe
"Fans of Tuesdays with Morrie will be delighted with this novel."
--People
"This is a fable you will devour when you fall in love. This is the tale you will keep by your side when you are lost. This is the story you will turn to again and again, because it possesses the rare magic to let you see yourself and the world anew. This book is a gift to the soul."
--Amy Tan, author of The Joy Luck Club and The Bonsesetter's Daughter

What a joy it was to arrive at our new address two states away and already have mail waiting -- and a much-anticipated BOOK, no less! I dove into it last night. Thanks all!
Hmmm... don't want to be the lone voice here, but I was disappointed. I'm head-over-heels in love with Five People You Meet in Heaven -- thought it was a really fresh story and it moved me to tears. I saw Mitch Albom on a talk show a bit ago, doing press for this book, and they made it sound like the ultimate Mother/Child story and that everyone who read it would have that relationship forever changed. I dunno why it didn't move me. Maybe because I have a great relationship with my mom? Maybe because I don't know what it's like to be a mom? I know one thing that threw me off... I just thought the voice was wrong, that an old, drunk baseball player wouldn't talk like that. I've been spoiled recently, reading Ash Wednesday by Ethan Hawke and Tommy's Tale by Alan Cumming, both of which nail a realistic voice for their main characters.
The book arrived today! I look forward to reading it.
I really liked this book! I enjoyed ti more than The Five People You Meet in Heaven, I think I felt more of an attachment with Chick. Many morsels of truth to savor I may need to reread this book a few times to truly appreciate it. I am waiting for the next address to send this along on its way.
Thankyou so much for sending me this. Since I signed up for it I have read it. Someone gave it to me as a gift. I'll be sending it on at the weekend
After a very busy morning job hunting, I checked my PO Box to find that this little bookray was sitting in it waiting for me to pick it up and read! What a wonderful surprise when I was expecting bills. I began reading the book on the way home.
Oh my Gawwd, I read this in a day and a half! Can't believe how good it was. I read the first half in two hours yesterday and finished it in two hours today.... well, this afternoon. So, it's on its way home.
This book is back home!!!! Thanks Mozette for sending it back. Thanks to every one who participated in this ring and for the JEs you have added. This book will be making a new round soon!
