Slaughterhouse
The Shocking Story of Greed, Neglect, and Inhumane Treatment Inside the U.S. Meat Industry
by Gail Eisnitz

The reality that is America's slaughterhouses is hard to face, but Gail Eisnitz has been inside and, in this book, she tells what she found: intolerable conditions, lax standards, and the deliberate beating, strangling, and boiling of live animals in violation of federal law, and the blind eye turned to it all by the USDA. This is the first book of its kind. 328 pages, paperback.

"Whether you eat meat or not—if you care about humans or animals—this book is a must-read."
—Peter Singer

9 out of 10

its pretty hard to read. the style etc is easy to read, i just meant because of the nature of the book its quite upsetting and the pics are pretty graphic. im already a vegetarian and anti-cruelty and keep saying, 'dont read it! dont read it!' yet i keep reading it. if i wasnt a vegie, i would be now. there wasnt just the cruelty to animals, there was the cruelty to the workers and also the children who had died as a result of these sloppy practices. id be interested to see how the aussie meat industry stands up. I hope this book gets around to as many bcers as possible.
on its way to ZZZ

Book has arrived. Thank you so much!
Being vet part of my study is to visit slaughterhouses so I'm familiar with the those disturbing scenes in the book (I've seen them personally).
Being member of an NGO for Animals' Right I'm familiar how those rights are neglected and how procedures that should eliminate animal suffering in slaughterhouses are often skipped.
Looking forward (I know how bizarre this might sound) to read this book.
