WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
I was fascinated by the concept behind this book when Alex and others told me about it. I have to say that through the first half to two thirds I was reading on because I wanted to know how it would resolve, rather than because I was really enjoying the book. I found parts of the writing dated in a way that became a bit of a barrier to my enjoyment. However I feel it redeemed itself and I'm glad I stayed with it. A really interesting idea, executed in a way that avoids cliché and tweeness.
Going to release at the York meetup.

Picked this up at York meetup, on Maiday's recommendation. I've enjoyed the DuMauriers I've read, so I hope I'll enjoy this one too. It will have to wait a while on my TBR shelf first though.

I didn't get into this as much as I'd expected to. The historical storyline didn't grab me, although it had all the right ingredients - perhaps I was in the wrong frame of mind for it. The modern storyline was more gripping for me, and I was fairly hooked by the end. Overall I think it's an interesting concept for a book, but the writing has not stood the test of time well.
I've passed it onto my friend Sue, who doesn't tend to write comments online, but hopefully we'll hear from this book again one day.
