8 out of 10

Thank you very much for this book.
Your package is on its way too.
Let's see if this is like the previous one...the story continues...
Have a Nice November and Merry Christmas also! (a bit early for that though) :)

28.10.2007
I read the book this weekend.
And as in the earlier book, the writer has disturbingly mixed some themes from christianity with sci-fi here too. This book-series has three more parts, and it would be nice to find out how the story continues..

I'm sending this second book of "Homecoming" scifi-series forward as a book-ring in Finland, and I hope that the last reader on the list will send it back to me.

This is the second part of the series, so it is more useful if you have read the first part too. I have all the five parts of this series, so if you like this one too, you can ask other parts as book rings too! Just remember: I want them back after the book-ring.:) )

You can join the book-ring by sending me PM. Tell me also the name of the town, where you live, so I can have some sense in the posting order.

THE BOOK-RING PARTICIPANTS:
1. MeiMeiK (Turku)
2. Valpuri (Kuopio)
3. Hippolein (Helsinki)
4. Purina (Helsinki)
5. Nauris (Helsinki)

-->Last one: send the book back to me (=MiuM). Thank you.

PS: I hope that you write what you really thought of the book in the journal, and maybe add some picture too. (Not obligatory of course. :)... )

Have to confess that I was a bit disappointed with this part of the series. Had expected something more after the first part, but this seemed like a good read, but not excellent or exceptional. But still, it wouldn't take away the will to read the rest of the books, just to know what comes out of all the plans and who will get what in the end.

I finished this book a while ago, but didn't have a chance to make an entry before.
I liked this book better than the first one of the series. The characters were more well-rounded and the whole plot was more interesting. I gotta say, I didn't expect Basilica to be destroyed at the end.
I was annoyed by the chracters constant analyzing of why people acted the way they did and why they acted certain way themselves. It's like Card didn't trust his readers to pick up the stuff themselves.
But the series seems to become more interesting, I really wanna read the next one now.

The book arrived safely, thank you :)

9.2.
I had more struggle with this one. The first book of this series was very interesting, although it took me a while to learn who is who and what are their relations to each other. Reading this second part was easier because I already knew the characters. To my surprise I felt impatient to learn what's going to happen next as I was bored reading, but I couldn't skip further in the text. The characters started to feel shallow. I don't know if this was a result of reading another book concurrently, in which the story was much more inside the characters head.

The story started to feel more and more like a fable. There was a lot scheming and elements that seem supernatural (although they have a scientific explanation). Envious and murderous brothers are like characters straight from a fable. With all these supernatural and religious elements I can't help but to think about Cards religious background and wonder if this story has elements from mormon texts. The idea about Oversoul and it's connection with humans is interesting. I still want to know what happens next and how all this ends, but unfortunately reading this wasn't as enjoyable as I hoped it would be.

Thank you MiuM for organising this bookring !
