This is a novel set in modern-day South Africa, a vivid story of a university professor who loses his job and then goes to live in a rural area with his adult daughter. The descriptions of the landscape and the contrast between city and countryside, the feeling of terror in the racially unstable society, and the way in which the author brings the reader into the main character's rage and fear were much better for me than the plot, especially the ending.
Very well done.

Good book with a lot of different emotions involved. Easy to follow and written well. I finished this book in 2 1/2 days because I was always wondering what was going to happen next. A few times I found myself actually talking outloud to the characters! I definitely would recommend this book to others and I plan on letting it go so it can travel in the hands of others.
