Off to Woosang!!! First leg of the trip!
Oh the horror! I allowed a ring to enter my home and now the STRESS! OK will get to it and have it posted off by next fortnight. (Fingers crossed)
Better than most Katie MacAlilster books, had I realised this was the author I may not have joinred the ring BUT in this book, the female characters are nto totally hateful. I did like the ideas in this book about 'Heaven' and hell and thought this book has better character development. Meybe there is hope for this author after all.
An enjoyable read that didn't have me tearing my hair out at the stupdity of it all, this one is worthy of a readers time. A great world to dip into.

Off to Needsun NExt in the ring
Arrived today. Thanks for sending it to me, Woosang. And thank you for letting me be in the ring, Lemonitsa.
All I can say is ....WOW. I think this book took me two weeks to read. The female character was the most irritating character I have read about in ages. After two or three pages of her close-mindedness I couldn't keep reading. But, again with this author, I very much enjoyed the story and the supporting characters. Why can't she make her lead females a little less....eeeewwwwwww!
Rowenne asked to be skipped because she is too backlogged with other rings and rays. I just got back from the post office so it is winging it's way to Wyvernfriend right now.
Thank you so much, Lemonsita, for allowing me to be part of this ring and for your patience with me because I kept it so long.

The main character, Portia Harding, uses science as an excuse not to accept things that aren't normal and is quite argumentative. Actually she comes across as being quite like a lot of my scientist friends. She's not quite a sympathetic character and when she's given some magical powers and bumps into a quite hot vampire things are never going to be quite the same.
It's the kind of book that works if you put your brain in park but has serious issues if you start thinking about things. As a light story it's good but it's definitely one I won't be hunting up to add to my collection.

I sent this book to BookMoocher in BC, Canada.
Received this book from Lemonitsa through Bookmooch.
Over all I found the book to be monotonous and trite with an unusually slow start and a rushed, contrived ending. I usually find MacAlister's style light-hearted and witty but in "Last of the..." I had to force myself to read past the really irritating protagonist and her attitude. Since this is a fantasy, having a main character unable to accept the fantasy part of the narrative really stilted the story. Definitely not as interesting or amusing as MacAlister's other books.
Will be sending this book on through Bookmooch to Santiago, Chile.
