Journal Entry 1 by nikel27 from Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, Hessen Germany on Monday, May 07, 2007
"I'll be watching you ... " the cryptic e-mail read. Taylor Halstead, psychologist and successful radio personality, is terrified that she'll never be safe again. Coming on the heels of a series of tragic and terrible events, the e-mail sends chills racing up her spine. Her safe, secure world has already been violated by her cousin Stephanie's boyfriend, Gordon Mallory, in her own apartment. Only the door buzzer and Stephanie's intervening voice rescue her, but not before Gordon promises to return. Soon after, he is killed along with Stephanie in an inexplicable explosion aboard his yacht. Or is he? The e-mail is just the beginning. The terror campaign escalates when an electronically disguised voice on Taylor's telephone threatens to kill her, and her life becomes a nightmare. It seems the only one she can turn to is attorney Reed Weston, her confidant, protector, and, ultimately, lover. But is Reed's determination to protect her enough to avert disaster? And can Taylor trust Gordon's identical twin, Jonathan, who always seems to show up when she least expects him? Grief and dread unravel Taylor's sanity, playing tricks with her mind and heart. Someone out there wants her dead -- a crazed fan or the troubled teenage boy she's been counseling or, impossibly, Gordon himself. His vow to return and those final menacing words -- "I'll be watching you" -- haunt her day and night. Whoever is out there is coming closer, and Taylor Halstead has nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

What is a bookring and how do I get in on it?(thanks go to PHC for her detailed instructions which helped me greatly in understanding the process) A bookring begins when a bookcrosser decides to send a book on a controlled journey. A list of interested readers is set up and the book passes from one reader who reads it and then sends it along to the person next in line. Eventually the book ends up back in the hands of the original owner which, for this book, will be me, nikel27. A reader can join the bookring at any time unless I decide to close it (if that happens I'll make a note that the ring has closed). You Have to Be a Member at EUROPEANROMANCEREADER@YAHOOGROUPS.COM What should I do when I receive the book? Log on to bookcrossing and type in up journal entry so I know it reached you okay. Then private message (PM) the next person in line to get their mailing address so there will be no waiting once you finish the book, if they do not respond within 10 days PM the next reader in line (and me so I know they are no longer interested). Please read the book within 30 days and when complete add another journal entry with your comments. Tell me the truth :) Was it the best thing you ever read or a complete and utter waste of time? I love to talk to books, the good, the bad and ugly (ugly can sometimes be lots of fun to dissect), you can write one sentence or a hundred. When finished What if I'm the last in line PM me and I'll send you my mailing address. Thanks for participating! Please PM me if would like to be added to the list or have any questions about the book or the bookring! Journal Entry 5 by Annadlx from Wiesbaden, Hessen Germany on Friday, June 01, 2007
This book doesn't bother with any kind of introductions but jumps right into action. It keeps its fast pace throughout its 400 pages and was really sticking in my mind. I couldn't get home fast enough to read; so I enjoyed my short business trip today where I could finish this story on a train ride. This is real suspense and even though I kinda knew who the stalker must be, I couldn't verify it until the author gives us the last hint with the double homicide. Then I just knew and couldn't make up my mind as to how Andrea Kane would solve that mystery. It just wasn't possible. The fact how she solved the mystery of the stalker is why I only give 9 instead of full points. It really was too far fetched for my taste. It really looked like too much trouble to go through for that outcome... Nevertheless, I enjoyed this very much and thank you, Nicolé, for including me in this ring. will send the book off to Sonia next week as soon as I get the chance to go to the post office... maybe tuesday. Will journal this again, as well.

Journal Entry 7 by penelopewanders from Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Tuesday, June 12, 2007
This book ring had a safe journey from Germany to Switzerland.. where it landed with a bit of a bump on the pile of rings which have all arrived more or less at the same time. Working my way through them, have sent one, have one to send (waiting for address), 2/3 through the next (Kay Hooper)... so I'm not too worried about getting it off within 30 days, and it won't be lonely while it's waiting its turn! Thanks so much for making this available.

New author for me, and I really enjoyed this one. Part of my pleasure was the change of pace and mood from the previous book I read (In Another Country, Susan Kenney) which was very well-written but very depressing. Strangely enough, despite the deaths etc in this one, I had fun reading this - also got through it quickly thanks to a trip to the doctor in Interlaken by train. Thanks so much, I'll be sending it on to Dubly soon.

I was reluctant to pick up this book at first because the reviews were so good for Andrea Kane's "The Gold Coin" and "The Silver Coin" but they did nothing for me at all, so I was like 'should I give her another chance?'. I'm so glad I did, the style of writing is so different and I really enjoyed this book, I kept guessing who the killer might be and my suspicions were quite accurate although the red herrings in the book really gave me a hard time. The characters' chemistry is really good and the suspense is great, thank goodness for the fast pace of the book too. Now, I think I shall look out for her other romantic suspense too.
