It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

This book was great! I had a hard time getting into it at first because it isn't my usual genre but 5 different people told me I needed to read it so I couldn't resist! I like mystery books and this book is about 4 teenage girls but once I got further into and started getting to "know" the girls and reading about what they were going through I became trapped by it. I couldn't put it down. I read two-thirds of this book in the bathtub last night and didn't go to bed until 1am when I finally finished! I think everyone should read this book and I plan on making this one of my "traveling books" that goes from friend to friend. Hopefully I can get someone to come on here and write about this one. I know it really touched me.

This book is about 4 teenage girls who are spending their first summer apart from each other. They find these "magic pants" that somehow fit each of them perfectly and they mailed them around to each other throughout the summer. The pants gave them courage when they needed it and kept the girls connected while they were apart.

I could relate the most with Lena who went to Greece with her younger sister to spend the summer with her grandparents. Lena was the pretty-but-quiet one who thought guys were shallow and only liked her for her looks. She is a painter too. I used to sit around and paint when I was a teenager while the other girls were sitting around taking about some guy. Lena's connection with her grandfather that didn't talk much (he didn't know English either) was my favorite part of the book, especially when she was looking out her window contemplating life and watching the moon and it's reflection on the water and then realized her grandfather was doing the exact same thing. She knew she took after him. When he finally talked on the last day she was there and said she was his girl I broke down and cried.

The other girls are just as interesting. There was Carmen that went to spend the summer with her father only to find out he was getting re-married to some perfect lady and her two "blond" children. Carmen was jealous of them and mad at her father. She felt she didn't fit in because she was Puerto Rican.

Then there was Bridget who went off to Mexico to a soccer camp and fell in love with this cute coach who was older and off limits. She set her sights on him and ended up with a broken heart. Lena was worried about her and changed her flight on the way home to bring her broken-hearted friend home.

And there was Tibby, who had to stay in town by her self while her friends had interesting places to go for the summer. She was only going to work/"decay" at Wallman's. She ended up meeting this 12 year old girl there named Bailey who insisted on befriending her. Bailey turned out to have leukemia and didn't like to be treated differently because of it. Tibby realized this little girl was wiser beyond her years and spent a lot of time with her before she died.

These girls went through a lot over their summers apart and in the end they all got together to share their experiences and add some brief notes about them to the magic traveling pants. There are three more books in the series and I'm anxious to see where the girls go from here.
