This was left on the table at the book crossing meeting so I thought I'd give it a try. I liked one of her other books I read.
Set in France over two time periods, this book looks at how the actions of people in a small village under Nazi occupation affect a family.
It was an okay enough read. But the section set when the narrator was young was very slow to get anywhere and I wanted the author to talk more about the present time. Then when I was starting to get into the war time story we were suddenly back in modern France.
There are a lot of characters introduced in the war and you are expected to remember who they were when a grandchild appears in the other section of the book. Not a hope of that happening for me.
