It is the summer of 1921 and eight-year-old Lucy Gault stays close to the glens and woods above Lahardane - the much-loved house that her family is being forced to abandon. She knows that danger threatens and the Gaults are no longer welcome in Ireland. Lucy, however, is headstrong and decides she must force her parents into staying. But the path she chooses ends in disaster.
Beautifully written, but a bit gloomy for me.

This was a great read. It only took me 2 days because I couldn't put it down. A very tragic story about ruined lives. Thanks for sharing!!!Will post out soon.

I'm not quite sure what to say about this book. It's the story of Lucy Gault's life who, at 8 years old, took a decision which changed her whole future and the future of people around her. A story about fate and how one event and misunderstanding can dramatically change one's life.
It's quite a sad story, with as a background the troubled Ireland of post-WW1.
But there is not much more to say about it.
I have perfect-circle's address, I will post the book tomorrow or Friday, as the postal strike is now finished.

Hm, I don't know what to say about it really. The story never caught me and I found it a bit to gloomy for my taste. The fact that I was reading 2 books at the same time could be an explanation to me not getting into it.

I must say I enjoyed the Story of Lucy Gault, it was a fascinating read - a remarkable tragic story! I've passed this to KT-J to read now. Thanks again Shnedwards :-]
Received from Stubee. I've got another bookring in front of this but hope to get onto it soon.
I enjoyed this book, although I lost interest slightly in the middle until more characters entered the story. It was a sad tale of a tragic event that has disastrous unforeseen consequences but the characters and thei reactions to events were interesting.
I've PMd and emailed NepeanBCLibrary so will post this on when I receive an address.
