Another in the Gaslight Mystery series by Victoria Thompson. I've become addicted and can't wait for the next one to be released. This one is not one of the best, but still a good read for the train and a great escape. They are quick reads and the main characters are engaging. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Arrived in our Post Office on Saturday 12th May with two others by the same author. Thank you so much - I'm really looking forward to reading the three of them. Now I see that I need to read this one before Lenox Hill. Actually I think I might have read the last one in the series first, as the introduction to Victoria Thompson's writing.

Can't promise how quickly I'll read them - drop into bed most nights exhausted from packing for the move but as I'm making good progress I should soon be able simply to read all day. That is when I'm not out hunting for a new house to live in. They come on the market all too seldom in the area where our daughter lives and where we want to move to be closer to their family.

It is ages since I read this so can't be too accurate in my recall but I do know that I was delighted to have received it after having it on my Wish list. Thanks GoJints. Just exactly the sort of story I enjoy.

I'm sending it ahead of me to the 2009 BC World Anniversary Convention in Christchurch which starts on the 17th April.
We are expecting people from around the globe - not as many as we'd hoped but this wretched recession has limited some would-be travellers.

Sorry I didn't journal this when I took it home from the convention!!!

Clunky writing style and very predictable until the final twist. I also couldn't stand the character of Malloy - he's not very nice at all. However, it was interesting to read about New York City in that era.

An OK murder mystery but not a patch on C J Sansom and Ellis Peters for historic whodunnits.

I guessed who set the bomb but not why
