This book is about Amber, married mom of 2, with a posh house in the suburbs of Connecticut USA, feeling that life is passing her by; and Vicky, single, successful career girl in London, who would give it all up for marriage, a home in the country, and kids.
Then a woman's magazine gives them the opportunity to swap lives for a month..... Is the grass REALLY greener on the other side???

Bookray started, with the following participants:

I'm not sure what kept me going while reading this book. I found the book very long! I think the editor could have made the book a lot shorter! 464 pages was way too long for this story! I enjoyed the idea behind the book...two women swapping lives, but the plot that never seemed to go anywhere was pretty dull. I will mail this to beckasdream next week. Thanks for sharing lippycow.

I agree that it did seem to take a long time to get to the point, but I really enjoyed this book. I guess the author just wanted to really build up the characters and what their lives were like. Great book, thanks for letting me join in! Will send to the next person today or tomorrow.

Sent to me for a book ring. WONDERFUL book. I had read only one other book from her "jemima j." and was not taken with it, but I think this book makes up for that one =D

Got it today and started reading and couldn't stop! Bigger then I imagined, lol. Normally in books like these they just tell the swap experiance, they trade back and it's over. But this book goes from a month or more BEFORE the swap, showing events that is happening in both of their lives and why the swap was made.

Then they show the next month AFTER the swap and how it effected them! Loved it so much. At some parts it was a little..wordy, lol and some things I didn't need to know, but otherwise, fantastic.

I'm going to send a mail to BethanieKay right after this, and get it out to her when I can, money is a little tight right now. But hopefully we'll get some money on Friday =D

I have enjoyed all of Jane Green's books, and this one was no different. The premise was clever, the characters were likable, and the story was written in a compelling manner. Overall, a good read.

However, there were two things that I didn't like; First, I was really looking forward to reading the "piece" that both Amber and Vicky were going to co-write about the Life Swap that would be featured in Poise! magazine. But, we never got to read it. The book just ended. What's up with that? This whole book was about the Life Swap, and how Vicky was going to do it for journalistic purposes, but the author never actually includes it. I thought for sure that would be the Epilogue, but nope. Second, I thought it was a small error in writing style that both Amber and Vicky spoke in British colloquialisms. Amber was American, and even with her time spent in London, would probably not have spoken in the same manner as Vicky did (i.e., in a scene with Daniel, Amber said "You get on so well" rather than "You get along so well" like we would normally say in America.) I always enjoy reading books written with clever British terms and humor, I just thought the book would have been more believable if the author would have kept that British style only with the British characters.

This was a light and fun story. Thanks for sharing, Lippycow - and to the rest of you for playing along and keeping this ray moving! I've got the addy for the next in line, will ship out today!

Journal Entry 15 by lostbookisland on Tuesday, December 8, 2009
This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
