501 Ways to Save Money
13 journalers for this copy...
Journal Entry 1 by rockratgirl from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Monday, February 3, 2003
A useful book for a new homeowner who needs to know ways to cut corners. This book contains 501 short "handy hints" to save money in all sorts of ways around the home. There are humorous illustrations throughout - my fave being the illustration for the tip "As soon as you spot worn seals on fridges, freezers and ovens, replace them. Worn seals will mean an inefficient appliance and a waste of energy" is a rather scruffy looking seal (the mammal) sitting atop a fridge!
I hope to release this somewhere unique!

Recieved in the mail today, thank you! Looks like very practical, sound advice given in this, am slowly reading through this in between reading my bookring books!
This is a really helpful book, filled with great tips on how to save money - I was surprised by how many of these I was doing already without even realising it!!

Book arrived safely today from jackshome, thanks, and I'll get a book off to you in exchange in the next day or two, sorry I've been so slow! This looks really useful.

I've had this book on the shelf in the bathroom for a while and have been dipping into it ... it definitely has some useful tips in it but with my memory as appalling as it is, I think I'd need to buy a copy to keep to actually put any of them into practice! Although to be honest I've found that I'm doing quite a lot of money-saving already.
This book is up for grabs, just PM me if you're interested.
(jackshome, I'm really sorry I haven't sent you anything for the OBCZ yet, I keep meaning to, blame that dodgy memory! Will post something off this week, honest!)

Passing this book on to Kleptokitty tomorrow
Chelseagirl dropped this in to me earlier & I've had a good flick through the interesting looking bits over lunchtime (trying to work out if I can afford to tell my boss what to do with her job!!)
I'm looking forward to spending more time with it, as it looks like there's lots of useful stuff in there.

Very useful little book divided into nice easy chunks so it was quite easy to take in.
Lots of tips that I'd never even have thought of (though whether I remember them again tomorrow is another matter!).
I moderate the FrugalGeniusUK yahoo group so I may offer this up on there as we have a couple of BookCrossing members.

Following the take up for my BookRing for the Getting a Life: The Downshifter's Guide to a Happier, Simpler Life, I've decided to offer this up as a Ring too.

Book Ring Rules (Adapted from psychjo)
1) Everyody should leave a journal entry when receiving the book and after the read! Please let us all know what you think about it...
2) Also PM the next person on the list for a mailing address and when that person doesn't answer within 7 days MAX! please PM the one after...
3) Everybody should also try to read the book soon (max - one month?)- but in a joyful speed. It's not about how many books someone can read within a certain amount of time - it's about enjoying it...
4) You can send the book via surface mail or airmail - that is completely up to you.
5) If you find you don't have the time to read it when it's your turn please PM and I'll move you to a later slot.
6) Any new members joining from now will be added to the end of the Ring

Copied all the info I need. Ready to pass on to Angi612UK.
OK, I received the book this morning, so I`m armed with pen and note-book and ready to jot down all those tips that will make me a millionaire...........not!!
This book has so much info in it, it`s impossible to remember it all without jotting down the things you want to remember. It should be compulsory reading for everyone fleeing the nest and becoming independant!
Now on its way to Dizzy Dormouse.

I've had this for past week sat next to my computer waiting for me to say i've received it. I'm very sorry for taking so long with it already but i am half way through now so i should be passing it on asap.
I'm not normally one for reading books filled with facts but this one was different. I've really enjoyed reading abou all the ways to save money, and enjoyed it even more because i'm already doing loads of them :)
This is now on its way to the next person on the ring. Sorry for holding onto it for so long.

I hate to admit defeat & declare a BookRing lost, but this seems to have gone missing in action.

picked up at the Unconvention in Birmingham. I read this on the train home and made a few notes along the way. Will pass on to Akg once I have an address.
Looking forward to reading this as it would be good to save some money to help contribute to our honeymoon fund.
Oh gosh, I've had this for month, sorry! I started it quite a while, but got distracted by getting married. I'll give it another go and if I make no more progress i'll pass it on.
I have enjoyed this book and found some useful tips, although I think you can tell it is a bit old now. I marked each interesting page with whatever I had to hand, but I have now made a list of the ones I found interesting or amusing here The only thing I found slightly disappointing is sometimes it felt tips had been put in without being tested as they start "some people think" or "it may help"
