Part of my chelonian library. A hardcover book, about 110 pages (index included). A 1973 reprint of a title originally published in 1958.

Yup, finished the book.

This was actually a pretty good read ... it's charming for being so quaint and old-fashioned - or, OK, let's just say old :-) but it also does contain useful information. Some of it rather dated. And the language is certainly very dated. :-) But a lot of the info, on construction of enclosures and ponds etc, for instance, is quite sound. The illustrations are surprisingly good - some drawings and some photos, all in b/w, but not at all bad considering the book's age. It was an entertaining read and, content-wise, can do little or no harm.

The only reason I'd hesitate to recommend this book is that there have been many other books published more recently which the interested reader ought to prefer.

This book will now go into my Permanent Collection of turtle books.
