Started reading this today. Not very good.
I finished this on ... December 25th. I think. It wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Several reasons why not - partly, and this is a big part, it's just outdated. It's a pretty old book - even this revised & updated edition is decades old - and a hell of a lot has happened in the herpetology world since then. So this book is pretty pointless now just because of that ... even if that was all.
But I also don't like the way this book is written, the author's style, so to speak. It's written in a rather informal way and the author 'speaks' very much 'down' to his audience. I think it's unprofessional and patronizing.
There were also some points he brought up that I disagree with ... of course I don't remember what they were right now :-) but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone also because of the factual content. There are SO many more books you can choose from that are infinitely better than this one.
This book will now become a part of my Permanent Collection of turtle books.
