This book was purchased from the Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. (C4CCPL) Used-Book Store, located on the lower level of the La Plata Branch Library. Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. (C4CCPL) is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to expand public awareness and support for the Charles County, Maryland, Public Library system.

This book was picked up because they are having a huge book sale with better than ever prices and I can never resist a bargain.

I finally got the chance to re-read all of the Little House series and I fondly remember this beginning. I think this has always been my favorite of the books because of Pa's stories and because Laura is so young, childlike and innocent in this book.

I feel like the descriptions are the best in this book and hearing about all the things that make life in the Big Woods what it is makes me wonder once again if I was born in the wrong time period. As much as I love all my modern conveniences I also treasure things of yesteryear when life was simple, people worked hard, and family was first and foremost in people's minds.
