Ruby works as a prostitute in Sydney. Her close friend, Anita, works as a bondage mistress by day and a radio phone-in sex therapist by night. A series of death threats from Ruby's violent ex-husband, John, force the women to accept something they both deeply mistrust - police protection. Leading the case is Sydney's Head of Vice, Al Dunne, whose involvement with Anita is hardly 100 per cent professional. When a string of call girls are found dead in the city's best hotels John is the immediate police suspect, but Anita and Ruby both wonder about Dunne. Then Ruby meets Luke, and as her professional and personal lives begin to fuse she finds herself spinning out of control, living in a nightmare web of deceit, violence and fear. Ruby is desperate - she'll try anything to get out of the mess she's in - but will she really be able to change her tune?
