Journal Entry 1 by geniedances from Houston, Texas USA on Wednesday, April 11, 2007
Purchased to be read for the sci/fi read & release challenge. One of the reasons I chose to read this one is because Kitty, like myself, works for a public radio station. Read this entire book in one day. Its a great read. Couldn't put it down! Brief overview: This is the first book in a series by Carrie Vaughn. We are introduced to Kitty. She has the late night show at a small public radio station in Denver. She took the late hours after she became a werewolf. It seemed to be a better way to avoid the public eye as her lifestyle has become something she has trouble accepting herself. One night she makes some off the cuff remarks on the air about Bat Boy which turns into a talk fest about the paranormal. The is a hit and the station wants to keep the format. What problems could this possibly cause? Local werewolf and vampire leaders hate the attention the show brings into the public. Although Kitty has been submissive in her werewolf pack, she becomes assertive about her own life and decides to keep the show. When listeners discover she speaks from experience, the real trouble begins. Hired assassins, the police, vampires, werewolves, jealousy and hatred all combine to make things difficult for the late night show host. When a series of murders are committed that point to the paranormal community Kitty decides to take matters in her own hands. She teams up with a known assassin to discover the identity of the killer.

I really enjoyed the book. Will start the next one soon. It was a fun quick read and a new take on the vamp/hunter/etc that is out there. Thanks for sharing it with me! *reserved for WelshHelen... will send both books once I finish the next one*

Thank you so much, goaliegirl!! These two books were such a pleasant surprise but I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to be hooked on a new series :-) Update: Thanks to geniedances for pointing out that I've actually joined a ring for these books! Old age is creeping up faster than I like {g}

Received, read and journalled in, er, just under 6 hours! A real page turner for me! I completely forgot I'd signed up for this ring, but I do love surprises of the literary kind :) I really liked this book and shall be keeping my eye out for the others in the series, Kitty Goes To Washington and, er, another one published since then.. Thanks to WelshHelen for posting on, lovely to hear from you as always (even though an unseemly tussle would occur over rights to RayK *g*) - and many thanks to geniedances for hosting the whole shabang. PM'ing geniedances to find out who is next.

Journal Entry 8 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, July 21, 2007
Oops! AgnesXNitt's entry reminded me that I hadn't written a review for this book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I really liked Kitty and loved seeing her grow as both a person and a werewolf :-) It's so great to meet another smart, tough female character who doesn't go whimpering to a man as soon as any kind of trouble appears. Like AgnesXNit, I read the book very quickly ad I'm really looking forward to the next one, which is patiently waiting on my bedside table. Thank you so much for sharing, geniedances and AgnesXNitt? RayK is *definitely* mine!! *g*

Journal Entry 9 by AgnesXNitt from Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 24, 2007
Doh! I did journal this on Friday 20/07/07 but the computer obviously *hates* me... Received and devoured in just over 2 hours on Friday - I *really* enjoyed it! Blimey, you think your own life is complicated and then you factor in being a werewolf and running about once a month on all fours with little control over your animal behaviour and all of a sudden? Hmmmm, maybe my own life isn't that complicated after all! I shall be keeping an eye out for the other 'Kitty' books now, it will be interesting how the author expands the character and her lifestyle. Thanks to WelshHelen for posting on (always a pleasure ma'am - best of three for RayK?) and for geniedances for hosting this ring. Posting to Ellie02 today from Brampton Village Post Office.
