Four scenes, four people: the husband who yearns for a son, not suspecting his own sterility; the wife who is unfaithful with another man so that she may give to her husband the child he longs for; the friend; and the outsider. Written as a "play-novelette" (that ist, a play in the form of a novel, or a short novel that can be played by speaking ist dialogue), Burning Bright tells a story that could happen anywhere, at any time - a universal tale shorn of all ornamentation, dealing only with elemental human needs and passions.
