This book is about a girl who has been murdered, and her observations of earth from heaven, in particular the devestation her murder inflicted on her family. It's been a while since I read this book but I recall really enjoying it.

Excellent book - I cried all the way through! The ending was a bit naff but the descriptions of the girl's murder, her time in heaven, and the agony of her family were all quite heart-breakingly well written.

Picked this up at the bookcrossing meet-up. I've been noticing this book in shops and online for ages now. It's about time I read it for myself! Thanks, LittleSuz!

This book was very well written, which made the disturbing subject-matter a bit more palatable. The imaginative visions of afterlife, as experienced by the lead-character, were very enjoyable. Looking down upon the family she left behind, Susie experiences stages of life vicariously that she could never taste for herself. The ending sorely disappointed me in many ways. Such an ending only seemed possible in the 1970's, which is perhaps why Sebold chose to set it in that era.
