Donated to bookcrossers by the author herself, following her talk at Hudsons in Birmingham tonight.

"Agnes Borrowdale, seventy-five years old a week on Tuesday, hoisted herself onto the window sill and perched astride it, gripping the wooden frame.

After her escape from an old people's home where her son, Jack, and his new partner have placed her, Agnes's quest to find her new grandchildren is complicated by unexpected encounters. These new friends include: Joe, the helpful lorry driver; Molly, the garrulous hotel-owner; Gazza, the student; and Felix, the retired barrister's clerk, whom Agnes pulls back from attempted suicide.

Hoping to rekindle Felix's desire to live, she invents the Dangerous Sports Euthanasia Society, but soon fears that this falsehood, having aquired a momentum of its own, will end in tragedy."

I have heard the author read on two occasions.

Being sent out on a ray..

This was quite a fun book - likable characters and also familiar places around Erdington and Good Hope hospital (although we always called it No Hope when I lived near there! Thanks for sharing and I am really pleased to have been given the chance to read it before the unconvention.

Received in the post today from Weebly, thank you. Have got a couple of books to read in front of this but as I'm on holiday it shouldn't be long before I get to this.

An enjoyable light read. For me this had a deeper meaning than the fun side of Agnes dressing up and running away, plus all of her escapades. It made me think about attitudes to older people and how age doesn't make you old in mind. If you're fit the sky's the limit, literally! I knew that already but it just reminded me and made me think about it harder. A different Transita book to others that I've read but good just the same.

Thanks for sharing Beckydore. Off to Ladkyis very soon as Suedo now has her own copy.

Once I started reading I found it very difficult to put down. It really is a most thought provoking story. I like very much the fact that there are few cliches in the writing - very hard to accomplish - the pace is just right, the plot is gripping without being terrifying and most of all I found myself caring what happened to the people. I look forward to reading more by Christine Coleman.
I will post this on as soon as I get the address from the next person on the list.

Sorry about the delay in journalling - broke off to read Harry Potter, then couldn't find it! Had to give up and read something else - then of course found it again (in the first place I looked!)

Thanks very much for the opportunity to read this - I'll probably release it at Havant OBCZ later in the summer.
