This has been a lovely bedtime book - the illustrations are wonderful, really beautiful paintings. It's made me want to start painting again in fact, the colours are just so gorgeous! We haven't used the CD as we've been reading in bed. Thank you so much PurpleTapir Girl for sharing your book with us. Our favourite was The Princess and the Pea.

Thanks for sharing this book with me! It was fun to share with my grand daughters!

Journal Entry 15 by cbostler from Sandy, Utah USA on Thursday, October 22, 2009
My mother was a marvelous storyteller, and even though some of the memories date back more than 55 years, I can still hear her voice telling me "The Princess and the Pea." More than once, she helped me place a dried pea under the mattress so I could check to see if I had any royal blood. (I never once passed the test.)
I enjoyed the story of "Sleeping Beauty" so much, she surprised my sister and me with a beautiful set of paper doll characters. We re-enacted this fairy tale many times.
I was delighted to see that these two stories are included in THE BAREFOOT BOOK OF PRINCESSES.

I teach 7/8 year-old children in school; my husband teaches 10/11 year-olds.
I am always on the lookout for good books to share. Fortunately, there is a copy of the book available at the library, so the children have easy access to
it. Thanks for introducing us to a lovely book.
