Form the back cover: "... an eccentric overview of all the horrors, contradictions and absurdities of this century..."
A breathless recounting of it all, from the minute to the global. Interesting, but not necessarily a pleasant read. This book defined itself as "history" when I typed in the ISBN number- so I didn't select this book category. I'm leaving it as such, although I suppose I would have put it in "literature and fiction".

This was a surprisingly easy, funny read and not what I expected at all. I took it on a one week trip where I took books with me that I hadn't felt like reading for a while. This way this hilarious narration of important or not so important facts of european history got read. I laughed, smirked, shook my head and learned. Who knew it was a Swiss that invented toilet paper on the same day the assassin of Italy's king was handed to Italian authorities by Sitzerland. Also an epileptic bunny, nerve gas, female orgasm, concentration camps, contraception and so on refreshed some of my memories. There are also a few mistakes in this book. One time it was the Swedes that invented the J (for Jew) in passports and another it was the Swiss.
The historic "facts" are told in the eye of the beholder.

book is now available for trade. I might take it to a bookcrosser meetup in the future sometime... lets see.
