Who knew the surf of Seaside was the turf of gay gang?
When Southern-boy Blakely and bookstore-owner Robert each escape to the gay resort town for the summer, they find themselves amongst the Queenies and the Meanies - gangs who rule Seaside with a bitchy limp wrist and a leather clad fist. Once the gangs set their sights on the two newcomers, they'll do anything to keep the men from setting their hearts on each other.

Through both tragedy and comedy, these modern-day star-crossed lovers get ready to rumble for true love.

Ahh, I read this one with the eye of a writer, instead of for recreation. The line of the story was alright - I mean, it would be kind of strange to arrive in a town you have never been in before to be sucked unexpectedly in to a role playing universe gone bad... The characterization was good, but come on... gangs called the Queenies and Meanies? I think Scott & Scott could have done better with that. Also the writing itself left something to be desired with all the fragmented sentences that could have been added into previous ones to make more sense and completed thoughts without having the grammar issues of so many fragments. There were also some typos, but they were less in number. Other than that I really enjoyed it.

Exchanged with Drakeluvr tonight for October Dreams. This looks like a fun easy trashy read, thanks for sharing!

What a fun book! I breezed through this over the weekend. Ok, so it's not great literature, by any means. Yes, Scott & Scott sure could use a good editor. But hell, it was just plain fun... a nice guilty pleasure for a three day weekend! So campy and outlandish, I found myself laughing so much. And yes, I also found myself cheering out loud for Robert and Blakely, especially during the big climax!

Will be passing on to labmomnm in the next few days!

OK - I *love* camp, so am really looking forward to this! Going to Gillianne after I'm done.

14 July '07 - OK, I'm amazed to say this, but this book wasn't just fluff! I was basically expecting a campy, gay chick-lit...if that makes any sense....but I was pleasantly surprised & enjoyed the book.

Taking to Meet-Up for Gillianne.

I tried to read this...more than once. I've had it for a while. I just couldn't handle it. I guess I reached my lifetime limit on campy romance novels. Too bad, cos this one had potential, since for a change it was a gay romance novel.

I am going to give this back to Jare, who is going to take it to his Gay Pride Bookcrossing booth at Albuquerque's Pride this year. :)
