Little Lady, Big Apple
2 journalers for this copy...
I keep meaning to see if this book is out, ever since my sister shared her copy of The Little Lady Agency with me. We both loved it, and I've been wanting to read this one for a while. I was in B&N the other night, using a coupon and buying too many books, and I placed an order for this one too!
YAY it's here, and I'm going to enjoy it. Then I'm going to surprise my sister with it :)

So ... it wasn't as charming as the first one, but it was definitely enjoyable, and I'm absolutely looking forward to The Little Lady Agency and the Prince, coming out in 2008, according to the back of the book. I also wish she'd had an "American English" editor to help out.
There was something going on in the beginning of the book with past tenses that I didn't like, but let's move on -- I've marked several pages on the "American" thing:
Some things I loved -- "Tonight he was clad entirely in shades of porridge and didn't appear to have shaved for about four days." 'shades of porridge!' LOL!
I think part of why I didn't like this one as much as the first is because it seemed a little more Shopaholic-ish than the first. Actually, the first one wasn't Shopaholic-ish at all, which is part of why I liked it so much.
I realize I'm making it sound like I didn't like this, and that's not true. I did, and it was an enjoyable couple of days of reading. And I know my sister is totally going to be happily surprised when she gets this in the mail! That was part of what made it fun to read, too.

- Jonathan, talking about getting a busy signal on the phone, says, "I tried home. It's constantly engaged." Jonathan is the American -- he'd say busy; not "engaged".
- Bonnie speaking, "He says one of the things he loves best about dating you is that he can always order a starter and a dessert without feeling bad!" Bonnie is also an American, and she'd say appetizer instead of "starter".
- There was another one, but I evidently didn't mark it :)

It's been a while - don't totally remember...just know I liked the first one better! Sending back to ant...
I forgot to catch these back, and of course, I re-read them. They're too fun not to. Now I'm going to lend them to NotKyle, who I think will like 'em.
