An excellent book about good versus evil as only Stephen King could tell it. The characters are well defined and beautifully written. There is something in there for everyone to relate to--even sometimes the bad guys.

I'm finally done! I liked it for the most part, it was rather interesting and thought-provoking. However, I thought it lacked suspense and was dissapointed that the tension between good and evil never really came to a head, it just sort of dissipated by accident.

Thanks for sharing. I will send this on to missprisy next week.

Journal Entry 6 by missprisy from Edmond, Oklahoma USA on Friday, July 6, 2007
Arrived today. I have a few other rings and school work before I'll get to this, but I'll do my best to pass it on quickly.

*Started reading July 19.

This book is so long, but good! I feel bad about holding the Ray up, so I'm going to pass it along to bartonz without finishing it. Instead, I'll buy another copy and read it at my leisure. Thank you for sharing lane1088.

This arrived in the post last night - I'm really looking forward to reading it again - especially as this is the 'uncut' version and I've only read the 'short' one!

13 Dec 07: I'd forgotten how much I enjoy reading Stephen King when he's good - I'm whizzing through this and I'm glad that so far it's not disappointing me and is every bit as good as I remember it being, in fact this version is perhaps even a little better ;0)

This is still one of my favourite King novels - although the end does disappoint a little. So much of the story is the journey to the respective camps/introducing an army of characters that when the final showdown finally arrives, it's almost there as an afterthought. That or the realisation that the book was so long that now would be a good time to end it and to end it quickly. Still all that aside, I still enjoyed reading it. Thanks lane1088 for sharing it with us all!
