Journal Entry 2 by literarylover from Miami, Florida USA on Thursday, July 17, 2008
I haven't gotten around to reading this yet and since I'm going to be very busy with school this year, I've decided to turn this into a bookring and let others enjoy it. The List 1. tootshelling - Germany - (international) 2. jellyfish67 - UK - 3. molekilby - UK - (international)<---- Book is Here 4. Withoutwings - USA - (US preferred) 5. ladyofunicorns - USA - (international) 6. Queniene - USA - (US only) 7. BecksterCa - USA - 8. back to literarylover - USA Just a few bookring guidelines -- Journal the book as soon as you receive it, and contact the next person for their mailing address. -- Take as much time as you need, but try to read within 4-6 weeks so the ring keeps moving along. -- Take a moment to journal your thoughts on the book when finished. It's interesting to read other's feelings on the book too!

I'll PM the next person for an address when I'm about half-way through and leave updates here. Thanks again for sharing this bookring! Christine

Journal Entry 5 by tootshelling from Wynnewood, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, August 11, 2008
Starting this one today! I'll update when I'm about half way through and request the next person's addy. 3 September UPDATE: ok, this one is going a little slower than I thought. I had 10 days of holiday and thought I would read much more than I did. Also, I'm having a harder time getting into this one than I did with Howard's End. I'm slugging along though and will update as I get closer to the end. Thanks again for sharing!

Journal Entry 6 by tootshelling from Wynnewood, Pennsylvania USA on Thursday, November 06, 2008
I'm finally giving in on this one. I LOVED Howard's End but this one I just couldn't get into. Every time I picked it up to read I found myself having to re-read the passages because I just wasn't getting it. PMing the next person in line & will post as soon as I have the address. Thanks again for sharing!

Journal Entry 11 by molekilby from BRITHDIR, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, March 28, 2009
This may well have been the third time I've read this. As with any book I've reread after many years I noticed more layers in the narrative. Forster always looks at attitudes to class and reactions to this hierachy. In this book he also looks at race, the ruling classes, the indigenous people. The attitudes both have to each other, how each reacts in order to show the 'correct' face. A very interesting read and more so knowing this came before Indian Independence. Will contact the next reader to send on.
