Finally got around to reading this: prompted by a visitor who was half way through her own copy when she arrived.
Great story, immensely well told. I saw the film in about 1980, and can still see images and characters from that, which makes the book even more believable. Amusing in places, which lightens up the very serious topic by just the right amount. Highly recommended.
