Slaughterhouse-Five
Or The Childrens Crusade
A Duty Dance with Death
Kurt Vonnegut
A fourth-generation German-American now living in easy circumstances on Cape Cod [and smoking too much],
who, as an American infantry scouthors de combat,
as a prisoner of war,
witnessed the fire-bombing of Dresden, Germany, 'The Florence of the Elbe', a long time ago,
and survived to tell the tale.
This is a novel somewhat in the telegraphic schizophrenic manner of tales of the planet Tralfamadore,
where the flying saucers come from.
Peace.
(from the first page)
Interesting to read but I don't really know what to say about it...
Macht sich auf den Postweg zu SerendipityN.
Ist heute angekommen, danke.

In January I decided to count my TBRs. Among them I found a number of BC books I'd been sent as RABCKs. I wasn't aware how long some of them have been sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I hope to minimise my Mount TBR this year, prioritising RABCKs like this one.
I remember I began reading this right away back when I got it but couldn't get into it. This time I was hooked from the first chapter on. Like ekorren I find it hard to comment on this novel. It is both very weird and very interesting and it definitely makes me want to read other works by Vonnegut.
So, thank you ekorren for giving me the chance to read this. :)
(I'll get to Pygmalion soon.)

A very strange book.
Hopping in time, in place (space). Not sure I understand what the writer wants to tell with this book, so I won't conment on it other than that it is strange.
I'm glad to be able to cross it off my 1001-list. Available for a new reader.
