This was a great second part to this new series and I will really be looking forward to the third part which is expected in Jan 2008 called 'Iron Kissed'. Apparently in this next book Mercedes makes her choice and maybe the whole series will get a little sexier. Although in saying that the lack of sex is one reason why I like this series so far.

All in all this was a great book which an interesting storyline. Not really any new characters but alot of new info on the exsisting ones. I am interested in seeing how things will go with the whole vampire vs werewolves aspect and how the fae will keep fitting in.

Briggs has a really nice mix of everything and I hope she keeps it that way!

I hope to send this bookring out sometime in the next week or 2.

I really enjoyed the second book in this series! If it hadn't been for work, I would never have put the book down. The characters are becoming well-defined and the adventure was quite fun.

Sigh... Now, to patiently await book 3.

Thanks so much for sharing and it's on its way to the next reader.

Journal Entry 12 by MaplesFlowers from Nashville, Tennessee USA on Thursday, October 4, 2007
Rec'd the book yesterday. As, usual, my thanks to Amber for sharing another great book with me. I've got 2 books in front, but will get to it as quick as possible.

Journal Entry 13 by MaplesFlowers from Nashville, Tennessee USA on Tuesday, November 6, 2007
Not sure if I enjoyed it as much as the first book, but still it was good. Sending it on to Needsun tomorrow.

Journal Entry 14 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Monday, December 3, 2007
This book arrived today along with Once Upon Stilettos. I am really looking forward to both of them. Thanks so much, Maplesflowers, for sending them to me.

I really like Mercy and the world this novel is set in. This book was just as good as the first one and I very much want to see how Mercy develops her skills. I would like to see her learn much more about her heritage.

I am going to PM Cathy now to see if there is a way to get this book to her without having to mail it through the Egyptian customs. Not one book that I have send from Canada has ever got through.

Edit Jan 16: Cathy sent me an address in Israel so I sent the book by air yesterday.

Journal Entry 16 by cathepsut from Metzingen, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Sunday, February 3, 2008
Arrived today, yay! My friend from Israel brought it with him from his weekend home-run. There is also a customs sticker with an address in Paris (France) on it, which I find very mysterious!
I'm in the middle of a fairly hefty fantasy novel, but I will take a break from that one and start this one here today!

Journal Entry 17 by cathepsut from Metzingen, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Saturday, February 9, 2008
From the back cover:
"Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.
But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him."

The situation goes to hell quickly and Mercy only gets out of there, because the vampire / demon does not realise that the coyote that came along, is not just a coyote... People die and disappear and Mercy seems to be the only one able to sort out the mess.

I liked this just as much as the first book of the series. The characters did not develop much, but are likeable. The story did not totally grip me or keep me riveted to the pages, but I am interested enough to want to read the next one in the series. Will she go for Adam or maybe Stefan? Will Samuel stick around and will she perhaps end up with him? I would really like to see more of Zee. And I want to learn more about the walkers and why they are so special. There is a lot of room for more.

Posting this to Finland by snail mail tomorrow.

Journal Entry 18 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Friday, February 15, 2008
Arrived today, thank you! Oh my, the number of Mercy's tattoos just seems to increase. ;) But I like it! Lovely cover, now I just wish I hadn't just started reading a Nora Roberts book, I'd much rather be reading Patricia Briggs.

Journal Entry 19 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Friday, April 11, 2008
I love this series! I really like Mercy, she's a great main character, and Patricia Briggs has managed to create a world which is both interesting and believable. I'm very happy to see the romance taking the backseat in favor of the action, although I'm also pleased that there isn't too much gore. I can really relate to Mercy's reluctance to date Adam, as I wouldn't want to risk giving up my independence either. What can I say - finally a series where all the parts fall in place perfectly. I'm definitely looking forward to reading Iron Kiss, although I was accidentally spoiled for its ending. :(

Thank you Amberkatze for yet another great ring! I'm still waiting to hear back from WelshHelen, will send the book to her as soon as she tells me she still wants it.

Journal Entry 20 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Friday, May 30, 2008
I sent this book to WelshHelen today. Sorry for the delay!

Journal Entry 21 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, June 14, 2008
Arrived safely yesterday, thanks, CandyDarling. I'm really looking forward to this but I've got a couple of ring books ahead of it - I've really got to stop signing up to so many!

Journal Entry 22 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Sunday, August 24, 2008
This is turning out to be one of my favourite series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and was a bit concerned that this second one would let me down but, far from it! The characters from the first book are still around and though we didn't learn much more about them, the relationships were developed further. I love Mercy, Adam, Samuel and Warren especially and not forgetting Mrs Hanna!

Patricia Briggs' writing style is so free and easy, it's actually a pleasure to read her books. They may not win any high-brow book awards but they're fun, fast and entertaining reads.

I've got Rianonne's address and will post the book to her on Tuesday. As usual, Amberkatze... thank you :-)

Journal Entry 24 by Rianonne from Wien Bezirk 22 - Donaustadt, Wien Austria on Monday, September 8, 2008
Arrived during my stay at the hospital!
I will read it as soon as possible because I have book #3 here waiting too ;)

Journal Entry 25 by Rianonne from Wien Bezirk 22 - Donaustadt, Wien Austria on Friday, September 12, 2008
I loved "Moon Called" but the sequel "Blood Bound" is better.

Refreshingly, the romance aspect of the story - Mercy has two powerful werewolves (and maybe a vampire) as possible boyfriends - is subdued, almost inconsequential to the plot. Mercy is no heart of stone, but she certainly doesn't feel the need to have a man in her life, for love or protection against the greater dark.

"Blood Bound" is a compelling story with a strong, capable and very like-able heroine. Characters, action and suspense work together smoothly to drive the plot in interesting directions, and I was glued to the pages as Briggs takes unexpected turns.

To put it short - I love the series!!
