Synopsis:
Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, and gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago. Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you? Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying of ALS - or motor neurone disease - Morrie visited Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live. This is a chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world.

Travelling to my friend Heidi to fulfil a wish! Happy travels, little book! :)

Journal Entry 3 by winghetku77wing at Nokia, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Friday, July 5, 2013
15.7.2007 I've been on summer holidays and just come home for a few days before going off again. My mother had kindly fetched a package for me from the post office and this was one of the books in it. Thank you (once again :) for fulfilling my wish, Jannicke!

5.7.2013 I finished reading the book already a while ago. What a lovely book. So inspiring despite the heavy issues that were dealt in the story. The timing to read was also perfect - around the time when my 90-year-old greataunt passed away. She was one of the most caring persons I've ever known.

Received in the post today along with another surprise wishlist book. Thank you very much-will look forward to reading it asap. Another good friend of mine, who is also a bookcrosser, has also been wanting to read this too since we both read The Five People You Meet in Heaven by the same author. Therefore will pass on to her next.

REVIEW:- "I was a little disappointed when I discovered that this book wasn't a novel as I really enjoyed The Five People You Meet in Heaven by the same author. However I did enjoy the book which is very philosophical and thought-provoking, if a little repetitious and over-sentimental at times. I liked the story of Mitch and his former professor doing one last thesis on "the art of dying". I liked the idea of Morrie "borrowing freely from all religions" and thought this was a good idea. I very much agreed when he said "If you want the experience of having complete responsibility for another human being, and to learn how to love and bond in the deepest way, then you should have children". In general a very interesting read."
I am reserving this book for my friend and fellow bookcrosser SallyCC

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This book will be given to my good friend and fellow bookcrosser SallyCC when we meet for lunch today. She is a very busy person right now so I don't think she will read the book in a hurry BUT she has expressed a wish to read it after really enjoying "Five People You Meet in Heaven" which I lent to her a while ago. I'm sure she will enjoy the book when she does have time to read it.
