Journal Entry 1 by amyem from Cambridge, Massachusetts USA on Monday, March 12, 2007
Written during the biggest height of the now highly critized self-esteem movement. I enjoyed it very much at the time but it seems very dated in ways. I prefer the parts when she simply describes her time in the women's movement in the 70's more then when she promotes the self-esteem movement as the pancea of societies ills. Interesing in the light of recent studies about the movement and it's effects on kids raised in the 80's and beyond.

Journal Entry 4 by edithdoll from Winthrop, Massachusetts USA on Wednesday, January 23, 2008
This book, was part self help advice, part memoir, part social, political commentary and perhaps even borders on philosophy in scant parts. She delves into anecdotes of her past and of friends to punctuate her theories. An interesting read, especially for feminists, others perhaps--not so much. Passing along to my mum, let's see if she really reads it.
