From the back of the book:

Connie Nixon is no stranger to making lists. In fact, she has rewritten the list of her deepest desires no fewer than forty-eight times. And each Sunday, for as long as she can remember, she's tinkered with it. But actually doing something about her desires is a different story — until the night she comes across a box belonging to her estranged daughter...and makes a stunning discovery. It turns out that her seemingly straitlaced Jessica is part owner of one of the most successful sex toy shops in America.

Shocked by her daughter's secret life, Connie tucks her list in her back pocket and does something utterly impulsive: she hops on a plane to New York City to track down Jessica — and winds up on the wildest adventure of her life. Because with her daughter's help, Connie's about to let her own inner bombshell see the light of day.

Now, for the first time ever, things are flying off Connie's list. Like reconnecting with her daughter. And getting tipsy before noon. And the most startlingly extraordinary desire of all: falling in love.

I enjoyed another of Kris Radish's books, so eagerly picked this one up in the bookstore the other day. What an enjoyable read it was!

This story really made me think about the wonderful, amazing beauty of female bonds and friendship. We are truly incredible creatures, able to withstand such adversity ... and through it all, we are THERE for each other. We listen to each other, we support each other, and we love each other.

Aside from being an intruiging tale of reinventing your life, re-establishing lost relationships and nurturing new ones, this book also inspired me to create my own "List of Dreams". I think we all have one, it's just time we start living it!

I'm going to pass this book along to a friend of mine at work, and then hope to send it out for others to read, as well.

How exciting - another Kris Radish book!!! I'll be starting this in the next few days (maybe sooner if I don't finish my current read which is moving a bit slow) and have it back on it's journey very shortly.

Journal Entry 6 by LGinder on Sunday, June 17, 2007
I usually love Kris Radish's books but this one just didn't grab me and keep me interested. I found myself putting it down after a few pages doing something else and then repeating it time and time again. Don't really know why but it moved a bit slower than I had hoped? So after 200 pages I've called it quits and will get it mailed off to the next in line either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Many thanks for sharing. I'll still keep her on my favorite authors list and I hope the other readers enjoy it!

Great story about a mother reconnecting with her daughter and how we anticipate what others will think of our actions. The story got a bit "wordy" at times and I wanted to say "ok, get on with it", but overall I loved it.
It made me think of my relationship with one of my daughters. I wish she could just get over the fact that I am her mother and not worry about my approval for every thing she does. I bought her a copy and she should receive it about the time spoiledrotten receives this book. I hope you both enjoy it. (I'll let you know if I hear "oh mother!!!!) LOL
My thanks again to BethanieKay for including me and to LGrinder for reading so fast!

Received in the mail today! Thanks so much for the stickers and cd to copy. I seem to be getting all my rings at the same time so please be patient. I have two in front of this one, but will hurry.

08/08/07 I finished this last night and I absolutely loved it. This is the first book I have read by this author. Being of the same age as Connie I really felt connected to her and it gave me pause to think about a lot of what she said and did. Thanks soooooo much for including me. I have just received Starbrightxx's address and will get the book out this week.

08/10/07 Sent out today to Starbrightxx. Enjoy!

Received in the mail the day I got home from vacation. I will read this as soon as possible (please be patient) I have two rings ahead, but I will read quickly.

Journal Entry 12 by BethanieKay from Melbourne, Florida USA on Saturday, February 16, 2008
After weeks of this book not getting a journal entry last year when starbrightxx had it, and after continued lack of response from starbrightxx, I eventually mailed her a letter to ask her if she had this book in her possession or not (since the JE showed she had had it since August 2007).

Starbrightxx emailed me back that she did have this book (and another bookring book of mine)and that due to medical/money issues, she hadn't had the time or money to mail books out (although, she apparently had enough time to allow people to continue to send HER more books), and that she would mail them along soon.

That was MONTHS ago, and still no books. I have a very strong suspicion that she has stolen this book (along with multiple books from other BCers) and that I will never see it again. This ANGERS me, but nothing I have tried will get her to cough up my books.

Therefore, I am trying to acquire a new/used copy of this book and will then continue the bookring with it.

Ok, I found a cheap replacement copy of this book on Amazon. The replacement book is now on its way to my sister (Moody-Blue) at Big Bend National Park in southwestern TX. The RAY is on the move again!

Happy travels, new little replacement book!

Journal Entry 14 by Moody-Blue from Montrose, Colorado USA on Wednesday, February 27, 2008
At long last! For the record, I also tried to contact starbrightxx about 3 times in the past 6 months. Last September, she said she was moving but would send it along soon, even asked for my address. Very frustrating! Pretty clear she intentionally nabbed it because others would have quickly offered a replacement in apology for losing the book.

Regardless, happy to get the chance to read this now. Love the concept.

Journal Entry 15 by Moody-Blue from Montrose, Colorado USA on Thursday, March 13, 2008
Question #1: Why did she put the list at the end of the book? It would have saved me a lot of confusion in the first few chapters if I knew what was going on with the list.
Question #2: Why are there three women in hospital gowns on the front cover, none of which resemble characters in the book? I was more than a bit thrown off by that too.

I had a hard time getting into this one. Kris Radish has a tendency toward free-flowing writing that often results in sentences that are 8 lines long. Having a man in the house who likes to blast the volume on action movies or sporting events is NOT conducive to enjoying, or even understanding, Radish's prose. I think the low rating I gave this book is more a result of having to slog through it than of the content.

On another note, to all who enjoyed this book and are inspired to write their own list of dreams -- I HIGHLY recommend No Opportunity Wasted by Phil Keoghan, the host of The Amazing Race. In it, he gives advice about how to compile your list, suggests categories to guide your thoughts, and encourages you to start doing it N.O.W. I started checking things off almost two years ago and it has made a HUGE difference in the richness of my life.

Received in mail today.

I was reading another book, but have put it aside to read this one -- the back cover blurb intrigued me.

So I've read about 66 pages since taking it from the mailbox. I'm very impatient for Connie to confront Jessica. I've been speed reading to see what happens between them -- my mother would paddle my fanny so hard I wouldn't be able to sit for decades if I pulled a stunt like Jessica.

Anyway, I'm dying to see what happens so I need to get to readin'.

Thanks, BethanieKay, for including me in your BookRay!

Journal Entry 17 by surmisez from Worcester, Massachusetts USA on Friday, March 28, 2008
I enjoyed this book. However, there were times when I had to go into "skimming mode" as Ms. Radish was way too wordy. If she were standing in front of me, telling me the story, I would've kept telling her to "hurry up already" and "get to the point".

The premise of a mother going into the sex toy business with her daughter was very original and amusing. While I really enjoyed reading about the various female relationships, I didn't like the inference that a woman choosing to be a mother and raise children as not being a lofty enough life choice. And I definitely could have done without the constant political pitches near the end. There's enough of that foolishness in the papers and on TV.

Thank you, BethanieKay, for including me in your BookRay!

The List of Dreams has arrived at the beach. YaY! I'm just finishing up my current read (I have about 60pgs to go), and so I will start on this straight away. Thanks for sharin' another Radish title, BethanieKay. I'll journal again once I've given it a reading.

Journal Entry 20 by Maurean from Atlantic Beach, Florida USA on Saturday, April 19, 2008
I finished this fourth book of Radish's yesterday, and as usual, found a wonderful tale of women's dreams, uncertainties and boundless friendships. I will agree with some of the previous journaler's, and say I too found this one to be a bit "wordy" and repetitive at times, but still a tale worth reading (I *still* think "Elegant Gathering" is my favorite, thus far)

Thanks for sharing it, BethanieKay and I've received kobie03's addy, so I will send this along on my next PO run.mailed on 4/24 to kobie03

Journal Entry 22 by kobie03 from Lewins Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador Canada on Thursday, May 22, 2008
Loved the story, mother and daughter re-connecting and how and the female friendship so present in the story. While I applauded Connie's list of dreams I was annoyed at it being tucked into her pocket and carried with her most of the time. I don't think you'd have to refer to a list to remember your dreams. I liked the idea of spending some time on your list every Sunday, Moms taking care of themselves. I enjoyed Connie and Jessica working out what had been teenage-mom differences, now as an adult Jessica can see her Mom as a woman and appreciate her. good lesson in this for many. All in all a great book that I'd reccomend to female readers. Thanks for sharing.

air mailed today to Bokwormy.
