6 out of 10

Not a fantastic read, but a short & quick one while I was commuting to and from a class on the Metro last week.

The mystery was interesting, but I didn't feel like it was built up enough. It felt like the author was more concerned with introducing characters and painting a proper picture of the small town than with the murder. The clues seemed obvious and set apart from everything, and it was almost as though they stumbled into the solution... which is maybe more accurate than I'd like to think it is in the real world. So the plot really didn't engage me.

That being said, I still loved it for its setting and the characters- especially Hamish Macbeth, who was great to get to know!

8 out of 10

I am addicted to this series just as I was addicted to Agatha Raisin. I love Hamish's character, and there really are a lot of laugh-out-loud parts. I like to picture him looking like Late Night's Craig Ferguson. I was able to predict who the killer was in this book, which is always fun. Thanks for sharing!
